The University of Maine Physical Oceanography Group operates and maintains a system of NERACOOS buoys and coastal radar stations throughout the Gulf of Maine.
The University of Maine’s Physical Oceanography Group (PhOG) is a key operational and research partner of NERACOOS. They operate and maintain a system of high-tech-buoys in the gulf of Maine that collect ocean and weather data that is delivered to users in near real-time. This team designed and built the buoys for the NERACOOS system and they have also built and operate buoys for other observing systems and research projects. PhOG also operates a series of coastal radar stations that make large scale measurements of of surface currents for NERACOOS. To learn more about PhOG you can visit their website.
